A weekly summary of trending news & commentary for busy talent acquisition technology execs and professionals.
“… If HR influencers rely on HR vendors for their livelihood and HR vendors use influencers to make their products and brands more appealing, how much can chief HR officers, HR information systems managers and other HR personnel believe what they hear?
For some industry professionals, it’s a no-brainer. ‘I don’t think HR practitioners should turn to so-called influencers when it comes to making HR operational or tech decisions, at least not solely,’ said Nicole Dessain, a talent management consultant who works with Fortune 100 and smaller companies.
It comes down to who you can trust and for influencers acting in a way that creates trust, according to [William] Tincup, who advises dozens of HR technology startups and is president of the news website RecruitingDaily. ‘You’re getting into the ethics and morality of an individual, so good luck. Some have it and some don’t.’”

Merlin, a jobs platform exclusively for hourly workers, is launching in the New York City market. The company, which has been operating in Beta since May 2017, appears to have emanated from Bogota, Columbia with additional offices in NYC and Salt lake City. Sneak Preview: Circa 2118: What Will Humans Do When Machines Take Over due out in September 2018. Evoking the clarion call of the 21st century – if you see something, say something – Peter Weddle has penned a stunningly provocative portrait of the rise of super-C machines in the American workplace. Animated by ultra-intelligent, ultra-intuitive, ultra-empathetic technology, these byte-collar workers will cause near universal unemployment among Americans within the next one hundred years. Weddle, however, doesn’t agree with Hollywood. He acknowledges that the period between now and circa 2118 will test the nation’s character – in fact he calls it a Second Middle Ages – but he believes America will not be dominated by machines, but instead be liberated by them.
